FASTag Annual Pass Launched: Unlimited Highway Travel for ₹3,000 a Year from August 15

FASTag Annual Pass Launched: Unlimited Highway Travel for ₹3,000 a Year from August 15

In a major step towards hassle-free and budget-friendly highway travel, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced an Annual FASTag Pass—set to roll out on August 15, 2025.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari confirmed the move via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that the new FASTag-based Annual Pass will cost just ₹3,000 and is valid for up to 200 trips or one year from the date of activation, whichever comes first.

Exclusively for non-commercial private vehicles such as cars, jeeps, and vans, the pass is aimed at simplifying toll payments and reducing friction at toll plazas—especially those within a 60-kilometre radius that often spark controversy due to frequent charges.

A dedicated link for activation and renewal will soon go live on the Rajmarg Yatra App, as well as on the NHAI and MoRTH official websites.

How Will It Work?

Once activated, users can freely travel across India’s national highways without worrying about individual toll deductions—until they reach either the 200-journey limit or the one-year mark. After the validity ends, users can switch back to regular FASTag recharges, as per the current system.

The Annual Pass is designed to:

• Reduce long queues and congestion at toll booths

• Cut down travel time and conflicts over toll rates

• Offer a cost-effective, one-time payment alternative for frequent travellers

With this new initiative, the government aims to make highway travel smoother, faster, and more predictable for millions of everyday road users.
