In the ongoing global competition for the prestigious title of 'world's best airport', Doha's Hamad International Airport has clinched the top spot for 2024, according to the latest rankings released by UK-based airline and airport review site Skytrax.

Renowned for its modern design, passenger-friendly terminals, and upscale shopping options, Hamad Airport has edged out Singapore's Changi Airport, which held the title in 2023 and 2020. Qatar Airways Group's CEO, Badr Mohammed Al Meer, expressed gratitude for the recognition, highlighting the airport's unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional passenger experiences.


Innovative Offerings and Luxurious Amenities


Celebrating its milestone tenth year of operations, Hamad International Airport has been lauded for its innovative offerings, including free city tours for passengers on long layovers and the luxurious amenities of the Oryx Airport Hotel, boasting spa treatments and a swimming pool.


Skytrax Rankings and Criteria


The Skytrax rankings, unveiled at the World Airport Awards in Frankfurt, Germany, were based on feedback from travelers of over 100 nationalities collected between August 2023 and March 2024. Criteria ranged from security checkpoint efficiency to the quality of dining options.


Strong Showing for European Airports


European airports also made a strong showing in the rankings, with Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport leading the pack among European contenders. Notably, Paris' Orly Airport was recognised as the best regional airport in Europe, while Rome Fiumicino Airport received accolades for its security processing.


Asian Presence in Top Rankings


In Asia, Tokyo's Haneda and Narita airports secured spots in the top 10, with Haneda ranking fourth overall.


Global Recognition for Excellence


Further recognition went to airports around the globe, including Vancouver International Airport in North America, Melbourne Airport in the Australia-Pacific region, and Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport in India.
