DM Bahraich Monika Rani Highlights Women's Leadership and Achievements in Governance at Regional Conference in Raipur
District Magistrate Monika Rani delivered an impactful lecture on "Women Leadership in District Administration" during a two-day regional conference on Good Governance in Raipur, jointly organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances, Government of India, and the Chhattisgarh State Government.
The session, chaired by Mrs. Richa Sharma, Additional Chief Secretary, Forest and Food, Chhattisgarh, highlighted the significant role of women in district administration. Sharing her experiences, DM Monika Rani referred to Bahraich as a "Pink City," emphasizing the prominent representation of women in leadership roles, including positions like Superintendent of Police, District Panchayat President, MLA, and City Magistrate.
Key Initiatives and Achievements Presented
1. Administrative Innovations:
- DM Monika Rani highlighted the success of the Seva Saturation Campaign, an initiative aimed at delivering social welfare benefits across sectors such as agriculture, health, education, and skill development.
- Achievements in infrastructure and service delivery in the district were showcased, including advancements in electricity, irrigation, and drinking water facilities.
2. NITI Aayog Recognition:
- The aspirational district has secured ₹14 crore in incentives from NITI Aayog for its progress in indices related to education, health, nutrition, and rural development.
3. Women Empowerment:
DM Monika Rani elaborated on initiatives fostering self-reliance among women. Notably:
- On Gandhi Jayanti, October 2, 2023, pink rickshaws were distributed to five divorced and destitute women -- Bitta, Saira, Megha, Shiv Kumari, and Aarti—under the Self Employment Program (SEPI) of the National Urban Livelihood Mission.
- Aarti, one of the beneficiaries, achieved international recognition, receiving the Gold Medal at a global event in London on May 22, 2024, by The Prince's Trust, UK. Her award, the Royal Medal, has inspired countless women in the district to pursue self-reliance.
