Senior Journalist Dirghraj Raj Upadhyay's Book "Ten Years of Conflict Journalism" Launched by Former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba
Dhangadhi – Senior journalist Dirghraj Raj Upadhyay's book titled "Ten Years of Conflict Journalism" was launched by Nepal's former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba. The book provides a vivid account of the challenges faced by journalists during the Maoist insurgency in Nepal.
Upadhyay highlights the extreme difficulties of reporting during that period, where even the Nepalese Army would alter its routes due to fear of the Maoists, and radio stations were frequently subjected to looting. The book also brings to light the tragic fact that dozens of journalists remain missing after covering the conflict.

Despite these severe challenges, Nepal's vigilant and true guardians of democracy, often referred to as the fourth pillar of the nation, continued their journalistic duties, enduring torture and sacrificing everything. The book encapsulates the bittersweet memories of those turbulent times, offering readers a deep insight into the resilience and dedication of the journalists who braved the conflict to keep the spirit of journalism alive.
