Bahraich: In an effort to bring forth hidden talents from rural India, a vibrant sport meet took place at Bina Devi Brij Naresh School in development block Risia, presided over by Block Education Officer (BEO) Ranjit Kumar.
Hundreds of children from the Basic Education Department’s rural schools participated in the event, showcasing their skills in sports like 50 and 100-meter sprints, kabaddi, shot put, long jump, and kho-kho etc. In the 50-meter boys' race, Mohammad Zaid from Primary School Saida earned first place, while Rukhsar from Primary School Vishunapur topped in the girls' category.
Zeenat from Upper Primary School Baijnathpur excelled, winning first place in the junior girls’ category. Similarly several children showcased their talents in different sport categories.
Block Education Officer Ranjit Kumar encouraged participants, applauding their efforts and stressing the importance of sports in fostering a healthy mind and body. He highlighted the role of sports in developing teamwork, resilience, and mutual cooperation among children.
The BEO also emphasized the significance of girl education, urging parents to support their daughters’ educational journeys, noting that girls today excel equally alongside boys in every field.
He thanked the teachers for their cooperation in organizing the event and advised them to integrate regular sports sessions and instruction in their schools.
Ranjit Kumar shared that the state government is actively supporting such initiatives, with grants of ₹5,000 and ₹10,000 allocated for primary and upper primary schools, respectively, to promote sports activities.
Sports teachers Ramu Lal, Virendra Pal, Saeed Ansari, Dharmendra Rathore, Sanjay Singh, Jai Prakash, Sagir Ansari, and many others attended, ensuring the event’s success and encouraging the next generation of athletes.
