New Air Services Launched to Dudhwa National Park Boost Tourism Potential
Lucknow: Dudhwa National Park, one of India’s premier wildlife sanctuaries in Uttar Pradesh, is now within easier reach, thanks to newly launched air services. The initiative, aimed at enhancing eco-tourism and regional connectivity, is expected to attract wildlife enthusiasts and travelers from across the country and abroad.
The air services will operate four day in a week, including weekends,—between Lucknow and the newly inaugurated Palia Airstrip, located just 10 kilometers from Dudhwa National Park’s main entrance. The fare has been set at an affordable ₹5,000 per passenger for a one-way trip, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of travellers. Helicopter services for small groups and charter options will also be available at higher rates.
Dudhwa National Park is renowned for its rich biodiversity, including Bengal tigers, swamp deer, rhinoceroses, and more than 400 species of birds. Previously, its remote location often posed challenges for visitors, requiring lengthy road or rail travel. The new air service cuts travel time significantly, making it an ideal destination for weekend trips and short wildlife excursions.
Local stakeholders have applauded the move, anticipating a surge in tourist footfall. “Affordable air travel will attract more tourists, especially families and international travelers, who earlier found it cumbersome to reach the park,” said local hotelier Sunita Sharma.
To minimise environmental impact, authorities have limited flights to three days a week and capped the number of passengers per trip. Additional conservation measures, such as eco-friendly ground transport and regulated park entry, will complement the air service.
The first trial flight landed successfully on Monday, marking a milestone for tourism in the region. Regular commercial flights are set to begin from December 1, with bookings already open online and at major travel counters.
With this step forward, Dudhwa National Park is poised to become a key destination in India’s wildlife tourism map while maintaining its ecological integrity.
